CCTV Footage Discloses Final Moments For The Woman Raped To Death
A post-mortem report showed that Ms. Velvine succumbed to spinal and sexual assault injuries, coupled with lung failure.
Investigators have found CCTV footage they believe will highly assist in fixing a man who sexually assaulted a woman until she died.
The footage shows how the late Ms. Velvine Nungari booked a guest room on the fateful night of February 23, 2021. The woman can be seen in the company of her alleged abuser.
According to the footage, the duo passed their night at the Sinnot Hotel, after having taken meals and drinks at the Q. West bar and restaurant located in Kahawa West.
Parts of the tape display the pair flirting publicly and growing affection for each, before checking into their room around 9:00 pm.
A bar attendant who has since been questioned stated that the accused Mr. Murimi left the hotel after about one and a half hours, claiming that he was married and can't spend the night away from his family.
Murimi allegedly left the woman inside the room, since she was reportedly exhausted and drunk. However, close sources hint that he left with Ms. Velvine's mobile phone.
Investigating officers intent to use the footage to fix Murimi at the centre of the crime. Further, they asked the court to allow them to detain the suspect for about 10 days, as they wind up with the investigations. The suspect was nabbed on March 19 (yesterday) and shortly released on Sh100,000 cash bail, before being rearrested moments later.
In his earlier statement, Murimi had maintained that he met Ms. Velvine in Ruiru, before asking her out on a date. On that fateful night, the two had their late lunch before proceeding to enjoy some drinks.
Few days to her death, Ms. Velvine revealed that after they had their meals together with Murimi, she could not recall anything else.
