Members of the Nairobi County Assembly are set to resume their sittings on Tuesday next week after a two-month recess.

According to close sources, the Building Bridges Initiative [BBI] will be the first agenda to be tabled on the resumption day.

The Assembly Majority leader Abdi Guyo stated that as a house, they will ensure that the agenda succeeds, not because of the promised car grant but because they supported the entire exercise.

Siaya county assembly last week became the pioneer county in passing the bill. For the bill to sail through to the next step, at least 24 out of 47 counties are required to support it.

From the counties, the bill will proceed to the national assembly then be left to the citizens for public participation. Among the key benefits of the BBI is the Ward Fund allocation.

According to Guyo, the allocation will help the counties in development issues and fast completion of projects that have since stalled due to lack of funds.

"Through the Ward Fund, power will be given to residents back in the ward to identify the projects they want to be implemented," observed Guyo.
