Three vehicles crashed in Kinungi along the major Nairobi-Nakuru highway, leaving at least 20 people severely injured and in critical condition in Naivasha Referral Hospital.

A lorry, a private car, and a 14-seater public service van were involved in the accident on Friday night, June 3.

First Responders from St. John Ambulance arrived at the site and treated the victims before transporting them to the hospital.

The accident occurred just hours after seven people were killed when a matatu and a trailer hit head-on on the Narok-Bomet route.

The Kinungi region is one of the highway's blackspots between Nairobi and Nakuru.

On Monday, May 30, 2022, a vehicle collision at the Kinungi blackspot along the Nairobi Nakuru Highway involving nine vehicles resulted in the injuries of several passengers and the death of one person.

Seven private cars, a 14-seater matatu, and a truck were involved in the collision.

Four persons died in a tragic accident in the Kinungi area on February 28, 2022, when their Toyota Probox crashed with the back of a truck delivering construction supplies. The fifth passenger in the truck was seriously injured, while the other four died instantly.

According to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), 1,345 individuals died in traffic accidents between January and April 11, 2022.
