11 Bodies Identified from River Yala

Members of the public and area residents continue to flock the Yala sub county Hospital mortuary to identify the bodies.

Gem county Commissioner Mosero Chacha has however said that they were making applications to the court for the court to allow them  burry the bodies that have not yet been identified.

We are however still doing DNA tests for families that show up to identify the bodies as we wait for the court,” Chacha said.

Chacha also said that area residents have not been reporting any new cases of bodies being dumped in the river in the recent past.

This comes at a time when it is still unclear who dumps the bodies in the river.

Two months ago, when the first cases were discovered, area residents raised concerns about the bodies saying that some bodies had cuts on them.

Also, in a report to newsrooms yesterday, Siaya Health executive Dismas Wakla said that they had a total of 26 bodies in the morgue with 11 already identified while 15 were yet to be identified.

“In total, we have 26 bodies in our morgues. Eleven have been identified and collected while 15 are yet to be collected,” Wakla said.
