Two Unidentified Bodies Found Dumped In River Tana

On Monday, residents of Makutano in Mbeere South constituency, Embu county, were shocked to see two decomposing bodies discarded in the River Tana.

Two Unidentified Bodies Found Dumped In River Tana

The bodies of two men aged 25 to 30 were discovered bundled in sacks, according to Mbeere South sub-county police chief Gregory Mutiso.

”We were informed by residents that they saw two sacks in the river and they suspected that they were bodies. When police officers visited the scene and after removing the sacks from the river, two bodies of middle-aged men were found inside the sacks,” Mutiso said.

The victims had strangulation marks on the necks, according to Mutiso, and they suspect the two were murdered elsewhere and their bodies discarded in the river.

"The two seemed to have been strangled because we saw very deep marks on the neck and we suspect they use some type of rope," said Mutiso.

According to police records, officers were dispatched to the location after receiving a call from neighboring homeowners.

Police in Embu County are piecing together evidence to unravel the mysterious death of the two unidentified bodies.

The deceased have yet to be identified, according to Mutiso, but investigations are ongoing.

Mutiso has asked anyone who has lost a relative to come to the Makutano police station to assist in the identification of the bodies that are now being held at the Embu Level 5 Hospital mortuary.

Residents of Karuku, on the other hand, are unsurprised by the incidence, claiming that odd incidents occur in the area virtually every year.

He has advised locals to be extra attentive and report suspicious people to the police in order to prevent such incidents.

The bodies have been moved to the Embu level 5 hospital mortuary for autopsy.
