Roadblocks Placed at Thika Road Highway as Probing of Foreign Cars Takes Place

Reports from a source privy to Bright Kenya News indicate that a massive probing is being done to private foreign cars.

However other reports have revealed that the scrutiny is being carried out to vehicles bearing diplomatic plates {white plate cars} with direct driving number plates as KG, KX, or parastatal cars.

The source also added that cars with cracked windscreens and with no insurance packages are being blocked by the police.

Drivers are therefore advised to use alternative routes such as the Kasarani roundabout.

This comes at a time on Tuesday, January 11th the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) had launched a nationwide crackdown on rogue motorists following an increase in the number of vehicles running with forged or false registration numbers, often known as number plates.

The Authority had noted that several syndicates have been smuggling cars into Kenya through the borders from neighboring countries.

"Some have fake number plates, which are those made by local scrap metal dealers, following the due process of registration.

"Alternatively, they get number plates from vehicles which have been written off and use them," the NTSA official stated.
