Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria Camps at Bomas Of Kenya Entrance
Murang’a Governor and August presidential hopeful Mwangi wa Iria caused a commotion at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) national tallying center at Bomas of Kenya on Sunday over the removal of his name from the presidential nomination register.

The Murang'a Governor who is vying under his Usawa Kwa Wote party, protested that he had submitted all the initial requirements and yet he was removed from the schedule.
“Even people who failed to meet requirements are in the schedule but my name has been removed… no election will be conducted if I will not contest,” he said in a video that has since gone viral.
Wa Iria maintained that he met all the requirements including bringing signatures from supporters in 24 counties as required and that the commission had even acknowledged receipt.
According to the governor, IEBC was trying to shortchange him by saying that he had only submitted signatures from nine counties.
“We cannot start rigging that far… We even have photos of your people going through item per item with our people,” Wa Iria protested.
“They have deliberately removed my name today by throwing them in the toilet. How comes no one has told me anything!”
Following the uproar, the governor was scheduled to meet IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati on Monday to have his matter addressed.
On Monday, the situation was quite the same after Wa Iria caused a stir again after being denied entry into the Bomas of Kenya.
The presidential hopeful was flanked by a troop of supporters in a convoy of cars branded with his campaign materials.
“I am not leaving this place, even if you send me the Russian troops,” he said, demanding an audience from Chebukati.
Wa Iria recently unveiled Alfayo Onyambu as his running mate ahead of the August polls.
