Manchester City breeze past Burnley

English Champions stayed on track with their title defence as they overcame a Burnley side that showcased plenty of fight and spirit in a 2-0 victory at the Etihad.

City were always deemed to be favourites as they had secured four consecutive 5-0 wins. Pep Guardiola's men dominated every metric and the deadlock as broken 15 mins in as Bernado Silva banged the ball home after Nick Popes' spectacular save had denied City Golden Boy Phil Foden.

Burnley put up quite a spirited fight and almost equalized when Maxwell Corner broke through one-on-one with American Zack Steffen but Edersons' understudy extinguished the opportunity. Sean Dyches' men persisted continuously and Josh Brownhill had his chance but flashed the ball out wide.

City were rather wasteful in the final area of the pitch after HF but doubled the lead on the 70th min when Kevin De Bruyne pounced on a loose ball to slot it home past Nick Pope.

The result leaves the Clarets on 19th place sitting a point off last place Norwich City. Meanwhile City remain third with 17 points.  Despite the loss , Sean Dyche will be content with the teams performance as they showcased fight and plenty of heart.
