Farah Maalim Escapes Death after Evading an Explosive Device on Liboi Road
Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim Narrowly escaped death on Thursday 28th July after an explosive device was planted on Liboi road.
Police reports indicated that a herder signaled the police of some strange activity in the area.
"Dubow Ali was grazing his livestock along Kulan-Liboi road at Wardeglow when he saw electric cables/ wires protruding from the surface of the main road,” police said.
However, Maalim asserted that his convoy, which was traveling to the Liboi region, was the target of the bomb.
Security personnel stopped the motorcade from setting off the IED after gathering information about it.
"Our hawk-eyed security officers got intelligence info of IED’s planted in my campaign route to liboi. They halted my convoy, rerouted us to a safe detour & engaged the services of bomb disposal experts. They then detonated the IEDs with ease. My profound gratitude to our officers".
