Candidates who attempted to verify their results via the Kenya National Examinations Council KNEC online received an error message.

Maurice Akal, the principal, stated that he is yet to receive official communication from KNEC.

“The results have been withheld. We’re yet to be told the reason why,” the Oriwo Boys' principal said on phone.

At least 400 students had enrolled for the exam at the institution.

After being recognized as one of the most improved schools in the previous year's tests, the school was one to keep tabs on.

As teachers and students from other schools celebrated their KCSE exam results following the announcement of the results by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, there were no such activities at Oriwo Boys.

Prof Magoha said a "very big school" had been affected by the withholding of results when he announced the results on Saturday, and that an investigation was underway.
