The African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier match pitting Kenya's Harambee starlets and Uganda’s Crested Cranes is off and won't be played. Chairman of the FKF caretaker committee Aaron Ringera has confirmed this while addressing the press conference. The 2019 CECAFA Women challenge cup champions camp has been dismissed with players getting their allowances for the days they were in camp.

Aaron Ringera blame frustrations from Barry Otieno who is the former FKF CEO and requested the Director of Criminal Investigations to investigate him and his actions.

“The FKF caretaker committee has instructed the Director of criminal investigations to investigate Barry Onyango for his actions, of someone who has no grain of patriotism and interest in sports. We are now left with no options but to disband the camp and Harambee starlets will not play in the African Women Cup of Nations AWCON) qualifiers.” Ringera said

The game was in limbo because the disbanded committee led by Nick Mwendwa wrote to CAF that they were not ready to host and facilitate the games and confirmed their inability to conduct such games.

Earlier the caretaker committee had announced that the games were to go as planned but today have now changed tune that the games will not go on as planned.

This will therefore mean that Harambee starlets will not participate in the AWCON in Morocco and the world cup in New Zealand.

Ringera further assured the starlets and Kenyans that they were committed to running the functions of FKF  and fulfilling all their duties given to them.
