At least 100 civilians and 13 US service members were killed on Thursday 26th when two suicide bombers and a gunman struck one of the main entrances to Kabul’s international airport.

U.S. forces were on the scene on Thursday 26th to evacuate Afghans who were desperate to flee Taliban rule braced for more attacks on Friday after one of Islamic State's suicide bombers targeted "translators and collaborators with the American army," according to ISIS, which is an opponent of both the Taliban and the West.

This comes at a time the U.S. forces are on the high alert for more Islamic State strikes, including possible rockets or car bombs targeting the airport, according to General Frank McKenzie, the chief of US Central Command.

"We're doing everything we can to be ready," he added, adding that certain intelligence is shared with the Taliban and that "some strikes have been foiled by them."
