Museveni sworn in as Uganda’s president for sixth term

President  Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been sworn in as the next president of Uganda. This comes 35 years after he Ascended into power in 1986.

Museveni was declared the Victor in the January 14th general elections that were marred with violence and irregularities.

However, at least 10 presidents of different countries attended the swearing-in. 

The presidents who attended the event that was held at the Kololo grounds include  President Uhuru Kenyatta { Kenya}, Evariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed (Somalia), Emmerson Mnangagwa (Zimbabwe), Salva Kiir (South Sudan), Hage Geingob (Namibia), and Alpha Conde (Guinea).

Others were Sahle-Work Zewdw (Federal Republic of Ethiopia), Felix Antoine Tshikedi Tshilombo (Democratic Republic of Congo), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (Ghana), and Samia Suluhu (Tanzania).

Ironically Museveni`s inauguration took place while Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Alias Bobiwine was put under house arrest with heavy security deployed around his home.
