The tussle which begun in 2017, forced Kemsa to stop supplying county hospitals with drugs and despite the intervention by the president and Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki, the fight arose again in 2019 forcing City Hall to reduce part of the debt in October 2020 by paying the authority Ks 166.9 million.

The payment of the entire debt is to ensure that drugs will be supplied to all health facilities in good time.

“There has been a problem getting drug supplies from Kemsa because of the outstanding bill. But since this debt will now be paid in full, drugs will now be supplied to all our facilities,” said Mr. Robert Mbatia, County Assembly Budget, and Appropriations Committee chair.
