Kidney campaigns this year will focus on raising awareness about disastrous  events, natural or man-made, international or local and their impact on people living with kidney problems.

Kidney failure is when one or both kidney do not function. Diabetes is the most common cause of Kidney disease. In early stages of kidney failure, it is almost imposible to detect the symptoms until the disease is advanced.  Some of the symptoms may include;

  • nausea
  • sleep problems
  • urinating more or often
  • swelling of feet and legs
  • hypertension
  • shortness of breath
  • dry, itchy skin. 

Chronic kidney diseases can affect the whole body function. Compex cases may include;  Anemia, fluid retention, weak bones, decreases sex drive among others.

Doctors from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital are clling out to the public for screening and diagnosis. They are advising on eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy and lean meats.
