Two Suspects Arrested For Beheading Man In Kirinyaga

One of the suspects brought investigators to the Rubingazi river, where he claimed the head had been tossed. But after spending hours searching the river banks, the officers couldn’t find it.

The head was the piece of the deceased’s body that had been missing since May 16 when the crime was committed.

On the morning of May 18, 2022, residents of Kirinyaga county's Ciagiini village discovered a headless body abandoned in a rice field.

Police were called to the scene and took the body to the mortuary for postmortem investigation.

The body was released after a postmortem examination was done and the family of the victim was forced to bury him without a head.

Detectives said the suspect, who was accompanied by Mwea West Sub-County police chief Wilson Koskei, admitted that he and his companions had cut the victim to death before taking his head and throwing it in the river, more than 15 kilometers from the scene of the incident.

The suspects, according to the police chief, are inmates who will be brought before the law once the investigation is over.

He noted that a third suspect had just been killed by a mob after being caught red-handed stealing a motorcycle from a resident.

Residents of Kirinyaga County have expressed alarm over an upsurge in murders in the area. 10 people have been hacked to death, in the last two months sending shockwaves in the region.
