Two robbery with violence suspects were detained on Thursday night in Nairobi's Embakasi East Constituency are being held by police in Kayole.

The two were arrested in connection with a violent robbery where they forcibly robbed a woman in the city of her cell phone and other belongings.

The two, Festus Owiti, 30, and Michael Otieno, 28, were apprehended by detectives located at DCI Kayole.

"The two Michael Otieno, 28, and Festus Owiti, 30, were arrested last evening by detectives based at DCI Kayole, following a robbery with violence incident where a woman lost her mobile phone and other valuables," DCI said in a statement on Friday.

Following their arrest, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), discovered that one of the suspects runs a mobile repair business at Kayole's Estate.

The detective went to the repair shop located in Obama estate and found over 50 alleged stolen mobile phones.

The suspects are being detained at the Kayole Police Station while they await their court appearance to answer allegations of robbery with violence.

Police have stepped up operations throughout the city over the past few weeks as a result of worries about an increase in muggings.
