On Sunday afternoon, a group of armed bandits alleged to have crossed over from Baringo County assaulted villagers in their homes, according to witnesses.

On the farm, the men appeared from the bushes and began fire on him and other herders, according to one of the survivors.

"At around 1 p.m., they emerged from the property and began shooting at us. I chose to leave for my life and brought myself to the hospital because there were several males, I told the media," he said.

The criminals then proceeded to the Koitialel retail mall, where they vandalized property of unknown value. They also got away with a number of cattle heads.

While some people managed to flee, seven people were seriously injured and are being treated at the Iten Sub-county Hospital and the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret. The two victims' remains were transferred to the Iten County Referral Hospital Morgue.

Regional leaders have chastised the government for failing to intervene and allowing robbers to run the show in the area. They also urged the government to tackle the situation with the seriousness it merits.

Because their families have relocated, several candidates taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), particularly those in day schools, may miss parts of the papers.

The incident occurred less than a month after armed attackers blasted gunfire into buses carrying students along the Tot-Arror Road on February 18.
