Two Kenyans Arrested For Smuggling Drugs

On Sunday, April 3, media sites in the South Asian country stated that the trio arrived at the Kolkata airport before being apprehended by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

The three men, two Kenyans, and a Malawian, were discovered with heroin worth Ksh1.7 billion shillings.

The two Kenyans are believed to have claimed they were in the South Asian country on a medical visa, specifically for a check-up in New Delhi, when they were apprehended.

The officials, on the other hand, continued their search and discovered that the contraband had been hidden in the luggage's fake bottom.

According to the Times of India, the officials discovered 14 packets of heroin in the bag, and the shipment was believed to be headed for Delhi.

In recent months, India has risen to the top of the list of destinations for illegal items ranging from drugs to counterfeit gold bars.

Over five Kenyans have been arrested upon landing in the South Asian country in the previous two months for being in possession of prohibited products.

Towards the end of March, two Kenyan smugglers were arrested at an Indian Airport while in the process of smuggling gold valued at Ksh113 million.
