Tuju: Jubilee Legislatures Won’t Support Amendments Proposed by Kimunya
The ruling Jubilee party has now claimed it was not behind the proposed amendment bills that seek to bar live streaming of election results.

Jubilee party secretary-general Raphael Tuju stated that the bill is retrogressive and that the party will oppose it in parliament.
Speaking to a local station today, Tuju maintained that the Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was sponsored by IEBC and not the government as was earlier claimed.
"The Bill was sponsored by the electoral commission and not the government as many people have claimed. Jubilee Party will not support any law that can allow rigging of elections in this country,” he said adding that the bill negates the Constitution and the gains that have been made.
The controversial bill that has since attracted heated reactions from across all political divides was tabled in parliament on Wednesday by Majority leader Amos Kimunya.
Yesterday, Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga instructed their troops to shoot down the amendments.
Among other things, the bill proposes amendment of the election laws to pave way for both manual and electronic transmission of presidential results.
