Six of the girls who had already had their hair chopped were rescued and sent to Mukurweini Level Four Hospital for treatment.

The owner of the home where the illicit activity took place, as well as several of the victims' relatives who were found in the home where they are believed to have escorted the girls to the cut, were among those arrested in connection with the event.

While confirming the occurrence, Mukurweini police chief Patrick Manyasia claimed that police officials were warned by residents about the strange incident and sprang into action to rescue the females, but six of them had already been cut.

"The locals informed us that they suspected illegal activity was taking place at one of their homes, and when our officers arrived, they discovered six girls had already been cut and were rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the home's owner and some of the victims' relatives were arrested," he said.

The three suspects have been arrested at the Mukurwe-ini police station, where they will be charged in court once the inquiry is finished.
