THE AKOKO PEOPLE OF SOUTHWEST NIGERIA

The Akoko people are part of the wider Yoruba ethnic group, which also contains this ethnic group. Ondo and Edo in Nigeria are home to the majority of these people. There are several places where Akoko may be located on the Ondo State map. Akoko is home to a substantial portion of Ondo State's local governments.

A local government area in Ondo and Edo states is known as Akoko LGA. The Akoko area is divided into five sections: Akoko Northeast, Akoko Northwest, Akoko Southeast, Akoko Southwest, and Akoko Edo.. Approximately 815,360 people live in the Akoko region of Ondo State (according to the 2011 population).

Large-scale farming and teaching are the most common jobs in the area. Garri, an indigenous delicacy, is made from cocoa beans, coffee beans, sweet potatoes, and cassava.

As a result, paramilitary and armed forces organizations have become commonplace in Akoko villages. For the last two decades, every Akoko constituency has had a commissioner of police.

Only a tiny fraction of Yoruba speakers are from the Akoko clan, which does not have a distinct dialect within the language. The surrounding areas are home to a diverse range of dialects.

Ondo State's rough terrain is home to over 40 Akoko communities. In addition to Oka and Ikare, additional Akoko locations include Arigidi's Oba and Ikun, Ogbagi's Ogbagi, and Erusu. Then there's Ise (together with Supare and Epinmi) and Ipe and Iboropa, as well as the previously mentioned.

The provincial capital of Akoko, Ikare, is the largest city in the Anakoko area. An I.C.T. resource center will allow residents of this commercial city to speak with people from all across the nation and even the globe.

One of Akoko's most populated towns is Akungba-Akoko. Adekunle Ajasin Institution, a state-owned university, is a popular choice for this location.

Olukare of Ikare-Akoko, the Akoko land's king, is the most renowned chief in Akoko villages. Olukare has been reduced to a single individual. The Olubaka is a well-known ruler in Oka realm.

People from Akoko-land are known for their contributions to the development of Nigeria. Adefarati, Aturu, and Chicago are among the previous governors on the list, which also includes Sunday Ehindero and T.B. Joshua.

Akoko is often referred to as "The Home of Education" by its visitors. For the second time in a year, it has the most professors in Nigeria.
