On Saturday, October 30, 2021, thousands of Sudanese citizens staged protests in various parts of the country. Earlier in the day, central Khartoum experienced a heavy deployment of armed servicemen, including the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the Paramilitary. In the course of the week, more than ten protesters met their end during clashes with the Sudanese security forces. The country’s citizens are against military rule earlier established by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. The General added salt to the country's men's wounds by ousting Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok's cabinet at the beginning of the week.

The coup led to diplomatic, financial, and political disparities with the global community, evidenced by Western affiliates such as the World Bank and the U.S. freezing aid in the hundreds of millions. Political tensions within the country are escalating as opponents speculate about a potential full-blown crackdown. Overnight, before the main protests, citizens in residential areas used all manner of items found, such as bricks, pipes, stones, and tree branches, in an attempt to keep the armed forces out.

The Sudanese are calling for the restoration of a civilian-led government, a plea that seems implausible from the general’s perspective in the near future, as he claims he removed the country’s cabinet to avert civil war and is still invested in democratic transitions and elections come July 2023.
