Student Murders Girlfriend In A Suspected Love Triangle

Irene Mumbua's body was found decaying in the Mutituni district of Machakos County, just shortly after the suspect, Charles Muli, told his father and another friend that he was the one responsible for Mumbua's murder and the discarding of her body.

On Saturday, March 26, Machakos County Police Commander, Moss Ndiwa, arrived at the institution after the police discovered the rotting body.

Muli, the second-year Agricultural Economics student at Egerton, was taken on Monday by the campus security officials.

According to the police chief, the suspect lured the victim into her death trap by inviting her to his house, which was located within his father's home.

Mumbua is believed to have been stabbed numerous times with a kitchen knife in a suspected love triangle by the suspect before he fled.

"The man slit his girlfriend's throat and stabbed her to death. The deceased's body had deep stab wounds on the chest and face," a source revealed.

Before fleeing the area, Muli had left a note on the body, which the police discovered had a message alleged to have been written by him. The suspect accused the victim of betrayal in the note.

"She caused everything with Alex from Kiteini; she betrayed me. I couldn't withstand it; she broke our covenant," the note read in part.

"We had agreed that nobody should betray any other, and if it ever happens, then he/she dies, or both die.”

"Everyone will curse me, but I am absolutely right, bye. Sorry to everyone, blame Alex; he knew everything about us," the note read.

The body was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital's morgue for an autopsy.
