Hospitals in Siaya County have run out of oxygen and beds as the covid-19 cases and deaths continue to shoot.

310 isolation Wards in Siaya county are full to capacity and more than 300 patients have been forced to remain under Home-based care.

This foll0ows the community Transmission that is out of hand, County Chief Health Officer, Eunice Fwayo reported.

“The death toll is devastating. Many of our patients do not have travel history and a number of sequencing has shown the dominance of the delta variant”.

"The deaths are sudden and the spike is worrying, with many succumbing to respiratory-related complications, as families have testified”.

Siaya County is one of the 13 counties that were declared Covid-19 red zones by the Ministry of health.

On Tuesday, 29th June, President Uhuru Kenyatta extended the nationwide curfew from 7 pm to 4 is in the 13 counties up to 31st July- siaya being among the counties.
