In an interview with a media station in Kenya on Thursday 31, Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga stated they were going to give more information about the ruling sometimes later.

“I have just seen the judgment. We are going to issue a substantive statement about it shortly,” stated Raila.

Upon being asked by a news reporter his opinion about Junet Mohammed who was quoted stating that indeed DP William Ruto had had a discussion with him to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila does dodge the question and referred the reporter to Junet Mohammed who was present in the crowd.

Taking to his official account on Twitter, Paul Mwangi, Raila’s lawyer gave out his remarks regarding the BBI ruling.

“CJ Koome has read the riot Act on the High Court and Court of Appeal judges. Told them that they are not above the Constitution of Kenya or the sovereignty of the people. She has called their creation of the 4th pathway of constitutional amendment as "inappropriate and undesirable",” Paul Mwangi’s quote read.

In a statement dated March 31, the ODM leader indicated that he was extremely impressed with Chief Justice Martha Koome's decision.

Despite the Supreme Court's finding that the BBI was unconstitutional, he pointed out that the court supported its contents and methodology, saying that there was adequate public engagement prior to the lawsuit being brought.

"The verdict is empathetic that every state organ must always subject itself to the people of Kenya and must never usurp their sovereignty by substituting their will with that of state officers and state organs," part of the statement read.

Raila went on to say that the verdict demonstrated the judiciary's independence, but that more needed to be done to defend the judiciary's independence.

"It is time the country has a conversation regarding the separation of powers between the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary and the roles of Checks and Balances of each arm of Government. This will enhance governance in our constitutional order without jeopardizing the obligation of each arm to deliver to the people of the Republic of Kenya," read the statement in part.

The ODM leader also stated that they will continue to discuss the proposed constitutional reforms within their camp and provide a path forward, claiming that many Kenyans supported them.

In response to the Supreme Court's decision, President Uhuru Kenyatta is yet to deliver a remark.
