ODM leader Raila Odinga was admitted to Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday, March 9 after complaining of body ache and fatigue.

His aides confirmed that he was indeed rushed to the facility and did not meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House as planned.

"He says he feels okay, but the doctors cautioned that some of the symptoms need to be monitored," Raila's Director of Communication Dennis Onyango, told Daily Nation, adding that it was merely a routine check-up.

His allies declined to disclose further details but stated that he was feeling exhausted owing to the numerous campaign trails he had undertaken in the past months. The rallies were meant to popularise the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Raila was flown to Dubai in June 2020 to undergo minor surgery at the Saudi German Hospital.

While at the hospital, he was seen to be in high spirits in a video shared by his daughter Winnie Odinga as he recuperated.

President Uhuru Kenyatta hired a luxurious private jet to pick Odinga from Dubai after his surgery was necessitated to treat a nerve disorder that had affected one of his legs. This was a special trip as international flights in Kenya were yet to resume until August 1, 2020, after Kenyatta reopened the country.

ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed were aboard the private jet that departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on July 9, 2020.
