Education professor George Magoha has refuted claims that the competency-based curriculum was not properly researched and is too expensive for Kenya to implement.

Magoha addressed these claims while attending a conference held by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development earlier today. He was addressing all the stakeholders on matters relating to the CBC curriculum.

Professor Magoha said the parents were to blame for making the curriculum seem expensive by taking their children to expensive schools that require a lot of money to keep the curriculum running.

He also lectured the various education stakeholders on their failures and blaming everything on the government. Magoha criticized the stakeholders and media houses that have made it hard for the implementation of the CBC citing that the parents have been shouldered with the entire burden.

“It is unfair for you to ask how much it will cost to implement the CBC. That is a question for those who never went to school .instead ask how much the government is allocating to the learner’s

The CS also hailed president Uhuru for making Kenya among the top African countries in terms of funding education. He said he was a witness when H.E president Uhuru Kenyatta toured the UK alongside the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to raise over KSH 500 Million to improve education.

“What is it they are talking about what is it they are talking about I was in London when we raised the money. I was shocked that Kenya is at the Top at 29.5% while others were as low as 14%” said the Cs.

The CS stressed that it would be very unfair to overlook all the milestones of the CBC. He accused and warned those giving out fake information against lying to parents while acting as if in their interest.

He further clarified that teachers are trained well and can comfortably handle the CBC model acknowledging that CBC implementations have their fair amount of challenges. Magoha urged those with issues to forward them and have them reviewed instead of tarnishing the CBC project.

‘Why should you go to court when you have 5 million happy students in the classrooms? We indeed have our fair of challenges why don’t you front them and we will review them. We are not sorry to anybody” he added

He also clarified that teachers should project the topics in class and not demands printed materials from the students.
