I Demand an Apology, Jalang'o's Homeworker Says to Bien

Jalang'o's homeworker, Morrison Litiema has demanded an apology from Sauti Sol's vocalist Bien Aime Baraza following a post on Bien's social media account that used the worker's image as a meme.

Taking to his social media account, Morrison stated that his image on the meme was used out of his consent and the post has greatly affected him emotionally.

According to him, he has received several negative criticisms from different people claiming that he doesn't support local artists in the country.

Morrison has made it clear that he has never unsubscribed or unfollowed Bien's YouTube or any social media account.

On Wednesday, news broke that the band's page's subscriber analytics revealed that they had 905,000 subscribers on Monday but had dropped to 903,000 on Wednesday.

Bien admitted to using social media.

"Time will tell." Hello, wale wanashuka washuke saa. Yao imefika, stage," Bien stated.

Bien also posted the below meme on his status on one of his social media accounts.

The ODM party stated that they played Sauti Sol's song during the event because they appreciate their work.

They acknowledged that the band is a well-known group, and this was their way of showing their appreciation for their music.

According to Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), Azimio obtained all necessary licenses to play both local and international music in their campaign shows and material.

According to Mutua, synchronization licenses are issued by Collective Management Organizations (CMO) such as the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) rather than the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO), so the copyright authority should refrain from commenting on matters that do not fall under its jurisdiction.

“We wish to clarify that we licensed the Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign for use of musical works in their campaigns as per the Copyright Law and gazetted tariffs. We are therefore shocked to see the confusion being caused by KECOBO over this matter,” he stated.
