How To Keep Your Oven Spotless

Tips for cleaning the oven

There are a few things you can do before using your oven to keep it clean, they include;

Line the oven's floor with parchment paper: It is wise to line the oven with tin foil, oven sheets or parchment papers. These will collect any drips, spills, or food that falls onto them, so you will only have to clean the oven floor once by taking out the item you used to line the oven’s floor.

Clean the outside of the oven: You can forget to clean the outside of the oven while cleaning the inside. It is crucial not to overlook the oven's outside. Mix water and white vinegar and use it to wipe the outside of your oven. You can also use a scouring pad to remove any stuck-on food.

Use dishes with lids or roasting bags: When food is cooked, liquids are released and evaporated, the vapor cools as it contacts the oven's surfaces, and condenses into fat. To avoid this, use roasting bags for meat, fish, and vegetables to prevent spills and splatters in the oven. Using roasting bags helps your food to cook properly and release all of the flavors without leaving you with a mess to clean up. Casseroles and dishes with lids, for example, keep things clean and prevent the grease/steam from forming on the surfaces of the oven.

Make use of the bowls: Use a heat-resistant basin of water inside the oven after you've finished baking or roasting. Heat it at a high temperature for 20 minutes to release grime and grease. Remove the bowl after the time has passed, then let the oven cool completely before wiping out the surfaces with paper towels.

Insert an extra roasting tray into the oven: Place a spare roasting tray at the bottom of the oven when roasting large slabs of meat to catch any spills so that you can effortlessly remove the tray after cooking and clean it.

Engage the self-cleaning feature: If your oven has a self-cleaning option, turn it on to simplify the cleaning process. This works by heating the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, which breaks down the grease and makes the residue easier to wipe away with a moist cloth or sponge once it has cooled.

How often you should clean your oven?

The amount of food spillage and oil that accumulates is largely determined by what you cook, and how frequently you use it. This enables you to estimate how long it will take to clean your oven. You can clean your oven every three weeks, or whenever you notice burnt-on food or smoke stains on the surface of your oven.

The easiest approach to avoid grease and food from accumulating in the oven is to wipe it down and clean it after each usage. It's a good idea to clean the insides of ovens as often as possible to avoid food spillages. When food is spilled and left inside, it can cause an odor or potentially ruin the meal you were cooking.

How to clean a glass door oven

Use a microfiber cloth and your preferred natural glass cleaners, such as lemon juice or distilled white vinegar, to wipe away the stains in gently downward strokes on a glass door oven. To remove any streaks from the glass, repeat the process with a dry microfiber towel.
