A video of an unnamed woman being packed into a speeding car along Thika Superhighway has gone viral, prompting Kenyans to demand that the police intervene.

Police Respond To A Clip Of A Woman Yelling For Help Inside Speeding Probox Along Thika Road

The footage, which was first obtained on Sunday, March 20, shows a motorist rushing away after picking up a woman on the busy motorway. The woman is heard shouting when the vehicle door swings open, indicating that she is in difficulty and requesting assistance.

Kenyans were outraged by the footage, and they demanded that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) act quickly to investigate the situation.

Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso stated that the incident was not a kidnapping, as many Kenyans assumed online. He mentioned that a boyfriend and girlfriend had gotten into an argument after an evening out.

The unidentified lady, a student at one of the highway's institutions, was not the same as the boyfriend who was looking for a lady to accompany him for the evening.

He went on to say that the video showed the woman resisting her boyfriend's demands before speeding away down the Thika Superhighway.

"Yes, it did happen. But it's not a kidnapping situation, as the clip suggests. It was a disagreement between a boyfriend and a girlfriend after a day out. She's a KU student who got into a fight with her boyfriend over going out with him for the evening."

Shioso added, "The clip recorded her resisting as he tried to drive away."

According to the police spokeswoman, the two have chosen to put their differences aside and reunite. He did, however, confirm that proper action would be taken in response to the boyfriend's dangerous behavior.

"They've reconciled and are with the cops today. However, the action was rash, putting her and other road users in danger. Following that, the police will decide on the best course of action."

The incident occurs against the backdrop of a national discussion over a series of insecurity incidents involving motorists and other road users. This comes after another video of a diplomat being assaulted by Boda Boda riders on Forest Road surfaced.
