Police In Nakuru Confiscate Military Uniforms

According to Peter Mwanzo, the commander of the Nakuru County Police, residents notified police when they saw many uniforms at a private residence even though the owner was not a security guard.

"We were alerted by a member of the public about the uniforms. A young man was seen bringing the items to his house,” Mwanzo said.

The supplies included ammo packs, police hats, groundsheets, and jungle clothes.

Military officials from the Lanet barracks were invited by Mwanzo, and they recognized some of the things as being army property.

“We are currently pursuing the young man responsible to explain his motive. However, there is no doubt that the suspect was intending to use the uniforms to terrorise the residents,” he said.

He pointed out that there have been instances of criminal activity by those wearing military uniforms in the past.

“We suspect that these are the clothes used by the criminals to commit crime, making it hard to identify them. We will continue with the crackdown to ensure Nakuru remains safe,” Mwanzo said.
