Over 7 Million Kenyans Have Received the Full Covid-19 Vaccine

The total number of vaccines administered countrywide came to 15,616,694. Of the total vaccines, 7,109,900 are full vaccinations and 7,505,604 are partial ones.

In addition, about 232,029 booster doses have been administered so far, Another 753,415 doses have been given to people aged between 15 and 17 years old.

In the last 48 hours, there have been 44 new cases and one fatality. In the last 24 hours, about 138,139 vaccines have been administered, and around 68,508 have been fully vaccinated. About 26.1% of the adult population has been fully vaccinated, and the Government still plans to vaccinate 27,246,033 people.

WHO Claims Kenya Needs to Double Vaccinations to Hit Target

The World Health Organization claims that Kenya must at least double its vaccination efforts to meet its 70% target rate by June. So far, the country has received 24,648,720 vaccines.

Around 10 million Covid-19 vaccines, some of which have fast-approaching expiry dates, lie in stores and hospitals nationwide. WHO noted that the average full Covid vaccination rate in Africa is around 1%, meaning Kenya is way ahead of most of the other African nations.

WHO made a statement saying, “Twenty-one countries have fully vaccinated less than 10 percent of their populations, while 16 have vaccinated less than 5 percent and three have fully vaccinated less than 2 percent.”

WHO’s Africa Regional Director, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, said, “The world has finally heard our calls. Africa is now accessing the vaccines it has demanded far too long. This is a dose of hope for this year,”

Covid-19 Statistics 

The country’s current caseload stands at around 322,517. This results in a 0.4% positivity rate, with cumulative tests coming to about 3,304,677. Currently, 157 people have been admitted to several different medical facilities nationwide, while those under the Home-Based Isolation & Care Program come to 547 patients.
