A military officer attached to Sega police station in Siaya is currently under investigation for allegedly raping a woman aged 32 years.

The rape victim had reportedly been arrested and taken to the station for not wearing a mask. Both the accused and the victim have since been interrogated.

"We have already taken the matter up and are waiting for the recommendation from the ODPP...," stated County Commissioner Francis Kooli adding that the officer will be charged accordingly.

The woman narrated how the officer arrested her alongside her eight-year-old son at Sega town. At the station, she was ordered to clean corridors, offices, and washrooms as punishment for flouting the Covid-19 regulations.

All that while, the son had been told by the officer to wait for his mother at the waiting bay. While cleaning, the officer told her to clean an office that led to the cells.

It is during then when he came and forcefully shut the door behind him and the woman. He then grabbed her and forced himself into her against her wishes.

He further threatened to shoot her dead should she raise an alarm during the 9 am incident. After the heinous act, the officer left hurriedly while the victim remained there confused.

Although, a P3 form filled by the Ukwala Subcounty Hospital seems silent on whether the woman was indeed raped. However, the police boss Kooli pledged that if indeed the officer raped the woman, the law must apply accordingly.

Kooli further stated that nobody was above the law, and no criminal will be spared by any chance.
