Flight operations between Mombasa and Nairobi counties will be suspended for an unknown period of time starting Monday, March 29, 2021.

The decision is in line with President Kenyatta's Friday nation address that slapped some five counties with movement cessations after they had become Covid-19 hotspots.

As a result, residents living within Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru, Machakos, and Nairobi counties will not be able to leave their counties of residence until further notice.

At the same time, transport services either by air, road or rail remain suspended into and out of such counties. To facilitate travelers who could have been affected by the order, a time frame was given until Monday noon.

The Kenya Airways Acting Chief Commercial Officer Julius Thairu also stated that the suspension will also affect flights to Kisumu.

Announcing the suspension, Kenya Airways stated that nothing will be lost since the air tickets' validity will be carried forward until when the situation normalizes.

KQ further tendered its apologies to all who may be affected by the suspension. "We sincerely apologize to all our customers for the inconvenience and reiterate that our crew, staff, and country’s safety remains our priority," stated KQ.
