Nairobi-Kikuyu Road To Be Closed For Two Months To Enable Maintenance

The closure is expected to highly interfere with the traffic flow along the areas affected, an act which KURA has since apologized about before time.

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced that the Nairobi to Kikuyu will be declared non-operational for at least 60 days starting near Dagoretti high school.

This will be effected starting Friday, March 25, until May 24, 2021. According to KURA, the closure was necessitated by the road maintenance due.

"We wish to notify the general public that there will be traffic disruption along the Kikuyu Road section beginning Thursday, March 25, 2021...,"  read a Saturday notice by KURA.

The maintenance and works will entail box culvert installation, to help pedestrians and motorists cross as well as enhancing an easy flow of water across the river.

KURA has since expressed its remorsefulness for any interruptions the closure may cause. Further, drivers have been urged to use other routes given, in addition to obeying traffic marshals' guidance.

The agency has been carrying on with road maintenance across various parts of Nairobi. For instance, Peponi Road is also reportedly under maintenance works set to last for 90 days between March 2 and June 2, 2021.
