Speaking in an interview on NTV, Murathe said he did not need a leadership position in the party anymore having achieved his goal of kicking out disloyal members allied to DP Ruto.

Murathe has in the past resigned his position but resumed it after party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, turned it down.

"Our job was to push out those who do not believe in the dream of the party. I am happy they have found a house called UDA. Our work is done," Murathe stated.

The former Gatanga MP however said there is one more thing remaining to ensure that DP Ruto is kept out of the Mt. Kenya region.

Both Murathe and Tuju have received pressure to resign from the party and allow younger leaders to take charge of the party.

Several leaders including the Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru have admitted that the Jubilee party was on the brink of sinking after the string of failures in the recent by-elections.
