Mother Detained For Allegedly Murdering Her Son

Police arrested the woman on Tuesday evening, following the discovery of her son's lifeless body by her neighbors.

Migori County Police Commander Mark Wanjala said that the Migori-based businesswoman allegedly left her home on Tuesday morning under the impression that her son was resting up after the beating he sustained the night before.

The deceased was a form two student at Abwao Secondary School and the exact cause of his death is yet to be determined.

According to Wanjala, authorities assume that he died from the aforementioned injuries because his body showed obvious evidence of abrasions.

"The deceased's body had a few bruises on his knees but we believe that he might have received some internal injuries during the ordeal," the police commander said.

The Migori county police commander added that the woman was obviously shocked to learn of his son’s death.

The boy's elder brother is also wanted by police on suspicion of taking part in the fatal assault of his younger sibling.

"The woman has admitted to beating the deceased, but she says that her eldest son was also present," Wanjala said.

The deceased's body has been sent to Migori Level IV Hospital for storage pending autopsy as investigations into the incident continue.

The woman is currently being held at Oruba Police Station and will be arraigned in court.
