Morocco Becomes the First Arab Team to Reach World Cup Quarter Finals

With the ongoing world cup FIFA quarter-finals in Qatar, Morocco emerged as the first Arab team to make it to the quarter-finals by becoming only the fourth African country to reach the quarterfinals at the biggest soccer tournament in the world by beating Spain 3-0 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw through extra time.

In a bid to find Victor, Morocco out shown by kicking out the 2010 Champion Spain by winning in the penalty kick section. This was after 120 minutes when neither sides could find the goal. The game took place at the Education, City Stadium in Qatar

Span then missed out on all three of their penalty in the shootout. However, the Morocco goalkeeper who came in handy saved two of the penalty kicks that send the team to reach the quarter-finals in history.

Morocco is the last African team left in the world cup, additionally, they are the last Arabs left, and they are also the last Muslim country left in the world cup.

It is believed that Morocco worked under pressure to represent the 37 Million people in the world including Africa.The Moroccans were playing in only their second knockout game at a World Cup, an event which is being held in the Middle East for the first time in its nearly 100-year history.

“Right now is a special moment for all Africa, for all the Arab countries, for all the Muslims around this world,” Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi said. “You try to make them happy, try to make ourselves happy. And I think it goes quite well.”
