Sisterlocs hairstyle

Sisterlocs are a versatile natural hairstyle made up of tiny dreadlocks. Sisterlocks are created by using a special tool that builds the locks from the ends of the hair to the root, rather than twisting or rolling.

Sisterlocs has also different styles.

Difference between sisterlocks and dreadlocks

One should note that there's a big difference between sister locks and dreadlocks. Sisterlocks are created without the use of any styling products by using an interlocking tool that creates small locks while dreadlocks are a type of hairstyle that can be achieved through a variety of techniques such as braiding, coiling, twisting, or palm-rolling your hair.

With dreadlocks, one can be able to try out the different types of hairstyles on them while the sisterlocks hairstyles tend to be more versatile.

Sisterlocks are also a bit more complicated to install compared to dreadlocks.

How do sisterlocks get installed

  1. Consultation

The first step before getting your whole hair installed with the sisterlock, you should ensure that you get to consult with a professional or an expert in the sisterlock installation. With this, you'll be able to know which sisterlock hairstyle is best suitable for your hair since our hairs vary.

     2. Sisterlock session

At this stage, the specialist has examined your hair and determined the type of sisterlock hairstyle that you be installed. It can take anywhere from 15 to 24 hours to complete depending on your starting hair length, head size, and hair density. Patience is key.

    3. Follow up

At this point, an individual is installed with the preferred sisterlock hairstyle but then she has to frequently visit her specialist for advice and changes on how to maintain the hairstyle. For better results, your hair needs to be taken care of and handled with much care to avoid breakage and any other issues.

An appointment every four to six weeks to retighten your locks as they grow will be necessary. Retightening can cost as much as sh7,500.

Typically, the style can be successfully removed within the first six months. However, after that initial period, uninstalling can be time-consuming. Before beginning the process, you should decide if this is the right hairstyle for you.

Depending on your location Sisterlocks typically range in price from $450 to $2,500. That is approximately Kshs. 52,308 to Kshs. 290,600.

The style does not result in breakage or thinning. The technique is gentle on the hair and scalp and promotes hair growth.

Dr. JoAnn Cornwell, a well-known pioneer who wanted to create a natural hair care system that celebrates your natural beauty and textured hair, created the beautiful style in 1993.
