A man was apprehended by Nyandarua County police for allegedly selling fried dog meat in a hot pot.

Ndirangu Wahome, according to a police report, was caught on Sunday while selling the meat in Wanjohi town.

“Upon searching his compound, the following were recovered; a slit separate dog head, a sufuria which he used to cook the meat, a blood-stained knife and a blood-stained panga and a wire which he used to trap the dog,” read part of the report.

Wahome was also found with 10 grams of marijuana and another live dog, which authorities believe was on its way to being butchered.

According to Kipipiri Deputy Sub-County Police Commander Rashid Juma, the individual is not normal because no reasonable person would engage in such business.

Juma said that they will look into how long he has been in business, where he gets his dogs, and why he is doing it.

He is currently being held in police custody awaiting arraignment on allegations of selling unfit-for-human-consumption meat.

On Monday, June 6, he will be arraigned in court.

In 2018, In 2018, a man in Nakuru was arrested by police officers for selling cat meat after members of the public spotted him along the Nakuru railway line skinning a cat.

The individual who identified himself as James Mukangi admitted to being the one who supplies meat in town to people who make samosas and confessed to having killed over 1000 cats which he sells to vendors engaging in the mutura and samosa business.
