Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday nabbed a man over alleged murder for his girlfriend.

The accused Evans Karani aged 38 years is said to have killed his 25-year-old girlfriend Ms. Nyokabi Catherine in Witeithie, Juja Kiambu County around April 14.

He then tried to dispose of her corpse before his car got stuck in the mud along the road in Juja. Not knowing what next, Mr. Karani fled leaving his car and Nyokabi's corpse inside.

Neighbors then alerted law enforcers who came and found the car stuck. On searching the vehicle with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), they landed Mr. Karani as the owner.

A manhunt was immediately started in the search of the accused. After two days' search, detectives tracked Karani to his rented home in Githurai Kimbo.

Detectives stated that the deceased's body had been burnt with corrosive acid. Further, she also had injuries on her face and head.

Karani has since admitted to taking away Nyokabi's life, following a bitter fallout. The married man further revealed that the woman was his side chic.

Nyokabi's father revealed that he knew the suspect as his daughter's lover. The man had been introduced to him by her daughter as her suitor.

"I knew them to be lovers. Just like in any other relationship, they had differences, which I would help them iron out...," stated Nyokabi's father recalling how two weeks ago his daughter told him about their break-up.

The accused is set to appear in court on Monday, although detectives may seek permission to detain him further as they complete their investigations.
