Machakos Cop Arrested for Shooting Versity Student During Protest

A police Officer Michael Mulwa based in Machakos county was arrested on Tuesday 6th after he was accused of allegedly shooting and injuring Machakos university students during a staged protest over the increased insecurity in the areas which had claimed the lives of fellow comrades.

The police is accused to had shot Brilliant Anusu, a Machakos University student who together with his colleagues had staged a demonstration due to the escalating level of insecurity in the area.

Anusu who is currently fighting for his life at the Machakos level 5 hospital, is suspected to have been part of a group of students that had engaged police officers in running battles for the better part of the day.

A total of 9 firearms including 5 pistols, 3 G-3riffles, and one AK-47 assault rifles were also seized from different police officers and they will be subjected to the DCI National Forensic Laboratory's forensic ballistic investigation to determine which firearms were used improperly to subdue the unruly students. Several hours prior to the arrest of the officer, Constable Kevin Sila, another police officer, was arrested for robbery with violence.

In the early hours of Monday morning, the cop in plain clothes and an accomplice named David Muringu attacked two students as they were making their way to their furnished housing.
