Lurambi MP Khamala Slams CS Magoha Amid Ban on School Bus Hiring

Lurambi member of parliament Titus Khamala Slammed Education Cabinet secretary  George Magoha over the new directive he issued on banning the community from hiring private school busses for different functions.

According to MP Titus, he argued that the education ministry has never supported schools in purchasing the buses, and therefore the matter should be left for the schools to decide.

He also accused the ministry that has been issuing limited funds to support different activities.

This comes barely a week after CS Magoha announced the directive on Tuesday at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development where he released the Form One selection results for 2020 KCPE candidates.

"Those seeking services of school buses must get authority from the Ministry. For the avoidance of doubt, school buses are to carry children using Covid-19 protocols, action is to be taken against anybody using the buses for any other reason,” he said.

“We will not sit and allow people to misuse facilities of our children…We will give authorization from Jogoo house, it does not matter if you are a government official,” Magoha added.

CS Magoha argued that the school buses are hired by people going to funerals and weddings at a fee and not fumigating them, therefore subjecting teachers and children to Covid-19 disease.

The CS directed learners to text index number 22263 to know the schools they have been posted to.
