List of Foods You Should Never Heat in a Microwave
The development of new food warming technologies has made life easier for many homes throughout the world. However, there are several drawbacks to using food-warming electrical gadgets such as microwaves that you should be aware of.
Firstly there are five different food items that you should never warm in the microwave due to your safety. They are as follows:
1. Breastfeeding milk
Many new mothers freeze and store their breastfeeding milk for later use, which is fine however you should not that no boiling or warming using a microwave should happen.
This is because warming milk bottles can create “hot spots” that can cause severe burns to the baby’s mouth and throat.
2. Processed meat.
Chemicals and preservatives are added to processed meats to lengthen their shelf life. Unfortunately, microwave heating of these compounds can be harmful to human health.
Heating processed meat in a microwave under radiation produces oxidized cholesterol compounds, which are more damaging to the arteries than pure cholesterol.
3. Uncooked Rice
Microwaving rice can swiftly result in food illness. Uncooked rice contains bacteria spores that may withstand microwave heating.
When you remove the rice plate from the microwave and set it aside to cool, the spores multiply and can induce diarrhea and vomiting.
4. Vegetables with green leaves.
No matter how badly you want to save your celery, kale, or spinach for later, it's best to throw them out than microwave them.
This is due to the presence of nitrates in the green leaves, which become hazardous when heated in a microwave.
Microwave heating converts nitrates into hazardous nitroamines.
5. Chicken
Because all forms of fowl include a certain level of salmonella infection, it is vital to thoroughly boil the chicken to eradicate all bacteria.
The microwave, on the other hand, does not do this evenly, thus infected bits may stay in the chicken after heating.
