Kitui seeks the hands of investors in Artificial Beach Project

“The County Department of Tourism would like to bring onboard private investors with the ability to establish and operate particular recreation facilities as per specific stipulated terms of reference,” says Kitui County.

The project, which is 30.9 acres with a 9-acre dam is expected to revive Tourism activity through the provision of a snake park, animal orphanage, children's playground, floating restaurant, swimming pools, and space for eatery bandas.

The facilities will be situated at eco-park at Kalundu dam in Kitui town upon completion of the project.

As reported by Governor Charity Ngilu, the tourism facility could include amenities such as kayaking and jet skiing.

The establishment comes at a time Kenya’s tourism sector is thirsty for revival after suffering a setback due to Covid-19 effects that include; a dusk-to-dawn curfew, banned social gatherings, and suspended international and domestic flights to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. According to Kenya Treasury, tourism is one of the priority sectors to propel the resuscitation of the economy.
