In the event, Omanyala was recognized in his historic Commonwealth Games where he edged South African holder Akani Simbine to claim a rare international sprint gold for Kenya.

In the event, Omanyala bagged an LG Artificially Intelligent 8kg washing machine worth Ksh.105,000 after beating out fellow Kenyans such as Billy Odhiambo, who scored his 100th career try at the World Rugby Sevens in Los Angeles.

Despite missing the podium at the World Championships in Oregon, Omanyala is pleased with his year's achievements, which include two gold medals at the Africa Championships.

Omanyala also expressed his gratitude to the LG company for awarding him the best sports personality of the month.

“The main target for this season was to get the gold medals and I am happy I managed to get one in the Commonwealth and two in the Africa Championships. I thank SJAK and LG for recognizing my efforts once again with this great award,” Omanyala stated.

Omanyala has won the award twice since his first win in September 2021, and he hopes to break Angela Okutoyi's three-year record in the LG East Africa-sponsored award.
