Users will be required to indicate their birthdays so as to protect younger viewers from predators. The Facebook-owned app is making its last attempt to make the app safe. The plan is to make accounts for users under 18 to be private and no one over eighteen can message them.
Users can choose to either see more or less sensitive content on Instagram. By default, Instagram limits the number of sensitive posts it shows but this feature lets users limit even more such content.
When anyone joins the site they will ask for your age. This will appear only for those users who haven’t entered their birthday on Instagram. In the press release, Instagram made it very clear that your date of birth is non-negotiable and if you can't comply then you will not be allowed to use the platform.
