The former CS who has served as Belgut legislator and Kericho Senator is eyeing to become the County boss in a UDA ticket after resigning from Cabinet last week.

The CS who spoke in one of the media stations said that he heeded the call by the people of Kericho to succeed the outgoing Governor Prof Paul Chepkwony.

In his remarks, Keter indicated that his experience at the cabinet was enough for him to become the next Kericho boss and showed confidence that he will clinch the seat to become the new County chief for the next period of 5 years.

“ I cannot and I will not rely on the endorsement of the Deputy  President on this quest. The Deputy President is running for president and I am for running for Governor. He has no power to endorse me because the residents of Kericho have already decided”. Keter said.

Charles Keter clarified the comments by his critics and competitors who accused the former CS of a lukewarm relationship with the UDA, that he has been working with the Deputy President since 2002 and that is well enough to justify their relationship with the party leader and Kenya Kenya Kwanza alliance.

The former CS indicated that his focus if elected is healthcare, water and sanitation, and industrialization and agribusiness to align its focus with the major economic activity of Kericho residents. This will also go in tandem with the bottom-up economy that UDA and Kenya Kwanza alliance is driving across the country.

Keter is facing a tough battle with his competitors who include Dr. Erick Mutai, Prof James Sang and Engineer Fred Kirui who also have an interest in getting UDA ticket for Governor but the Keter is confident that he the best suited to lead the county to the next level to realize the devolution dream.
