How to Prepare Soft Chapatis for Your Family

Chapatis are thought to be the most popular dish in Kenya and even outside its borders. For various reasons, though, some people find it difficult to make soft and well-cooked chapatis.

How to Prepare Soft Chapatis for Your Family

Well below are steps you should follow if you want to prepare nice chapatis for your family or friends.

  1. Add the number of cups of Wheat flour that you want to use in an open bowl.
  2. Sieve it for proper aeration.
  3. Slightly boil water at a low temperature to avoid burning you during mixing.
  4. In the slightly boiled water add table salt and a pinch of sugar according to the number of cups of flour you want to use.
  5. Mix the flour with the solution of water and salt until it's fine.
  6. Add 2-3 tablespoons of oil to the dough and mix well. Remember do not over mix the dough, this will make your chapatis be too gummy.
  7. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and allow it to ferment for at least 1 hour.
  8. After one hour cut your dough into desired sizes of chapatis you want and roll them while adding slight oil and place them on your working table or basin to rest as you work on others.
  9. Now take the rolled dough and roll them as you place them on your pan on fire. Remember to precook them at low heat if you want soft and brow chapatis.

10. After precooking, now you can cook them with slight oil since too much oil will make your chapatis boring and unhealthy.

11. Preserve them in a hotpot or serve them while hot with any stew and thank me later.
